York IA provides support to people who have or are about to have an ileostomy or internal pouch living in North Yorkshire.

We work closely with the hospitals in North Yorkshire in particular in York, Harrogate, Scarborough and Northallerton. Working alongside the medical professionals we can provide realistic and practical advice from our own experiences of living with an ileostomy or an internal pouch.

We hold two group meetings each year as well as hosting a couple of coffee mornings and hold a lunch at Christmas. As well as this we hold ad-hoc social events primarily aimed at our younger members or those with an internal pouch. Details of our events can be found on the Events page.

We are currently looking to fill two positions on our committee. Firstly we are looking for a young person (that is anybody under 40) to represent our younger members. Also we are looking for somebody to represent our members with an internal pouch. Besides working to promote the interests of young and pouch members we would hope you can represent York IA at such events as IA National Council, Young IA Weekends and Pouch Information Days.
